billboardMichael Graves KettleWhen JC Penny unveiled a billboard for a kettle designed by Michael Graves I’m guessing they wanted it to be noticed – they got what they asked for, but I’m guessing they are not happy. Motorists Interstate 405 near Culver City, CA noticed that the kettle looked just like Hitler – and spread the word on social media sites. People are criticizing JC Penny’s and the Graves team for not noticing, but sometimes we are too close to something to see it the way the rest of the world might. Let’s learn from this, and step back a little – and we should always try not to make our designs look like a well-known dictator (that should be in the design rules somewhere). (via Huffington Post)
