It’s interesting the difference you can make when a machine looks friendly.

The Robear (Developed by scientists at RIKEN) is an experimental nursing care apparatus that helps to lift patients from beds to wheelchairs, and can assist them in standing. It weighs just 140k and can move surprisingly fast.

All that is impressive, but when they decided to make it look like a cute bear, they really made it clever. Sometimes it’s those extra touches that change everything – when patients being less afraid of the machine, everybody benefits.
