It’s nearly a brand new year and it’s a good time to take stock a little, to think about what you are doing and why. You could do worse than taking 15 minutes and 12 seconds of your life to watch this video (yes really – watch it all). If you are a designer or work in any creative field this is worth every second.
This TED talk isn’t the most revolutionary, not the most cool or entertaining  – it is an insight into the minds of Charles and Ray Eames, as told by their grandson, Eames Demetrios (great name). It’s amazing how much wisdom we can get from approach to their work that apply to what we do today. Eames talks about how Design is a life skill – how it’s about human connect. He talks about how his grandparents took pleasure seriously and played with many different mediums even once they were famous for furniture. He reminds us all that the process matters, that we should focus on need and not style.
It’s worth watching for the banana leaf parable – and for the quote by Charles Eames, “Beyond the age of information is the ages of choices” – We are in the age of choices now – What will we choose?

Grab a coffee and watch the video below, you are welcome.
